Printed
circuit board is the basic requirement for making different kinds of
electronic gadgets and appliances. Electronic components control the
various functions of the appliance. These electronic components are
mounted on the PCBs made by a PCB board manufacturer who designs the most suitable board that can take all components.
The
electronic components are interconnected by land patterns that are
nothing but thin strips or lines of copper lying on the surface of the
printed circuit board. The thin lines of copper act as the cables and
wires that are used for providing electrical connections. The land
patterns make the electrical connections compact and reliable.
A
printed circuit boards can have a single layer, a double layer or
multiple layers. The number of layers increases the density of the
electronic components mounted on a given surface area. The material of
most of the PCBs is glass epoxy that is a heat-resistant non-conducting
material. All kinds of active components such as diodes, resistors,
capacitors and others are mounted on the PCB.
Earlier
a PCB board manufacturer used a method by etching the circuit on the
thin layer of copper covering the glass epoxy board. The etching
consisted of pin pads for components and traces as the connections
between components. The extra copper was removed by treating the surface
with acid that left behind the etched portion while removing the
portions that were not etched.
The modern process of PCB fabrication
is totally mechanized raising the degree of manufacture to high level
of perfection. The process of creating the circuit on the boards is done
by the most modern means so that there is no break in connections or
wrong placement of components. The boards have separate planes for power
and ground. Holes with plates called vias connect the components to
different layers.
All companies that manufacture electronic gadgets and appliances source their printed circuit boards from a dependable PCB supplier.
The companies that supply the PCBs can manufacture all kinds of boards
depending on the circuit requirements of the particular appliance. They
also produce heat sinks to go with the PCBs and the components that are
mounted on them.
